Sunshine Coast School Sport regional team official positions will be advertised approximately 4 weeks prior to the September holidays each year. Applications will generally close off at the end of term 3.
Please read the application process below before beginning your application.
The process
- Check the draft events calendar—Check the draft Sunshine Coast School Sport events calendar to ensure that you do not have other commitments on the dates that you will be needed to perform regional representative school sport activities (such as preparing and attending the regional trials and preparing and attending the state championships as a team official). Commitments include taking leave at critical team event dates and timelines that may affect your ability to perform a regional team official's duties.
- Be mindful of team official responsibilities and obligations—Ensure you can abide by the obligations and responsibilities outlined in the application form introduction. The complete list of positions available can be found in the draft Sunshine Coast School Sport events calendar.
- Preferential consideration in appointments—Within the application, applicants will be asked if they are willing to convene the regional trials. Preference will be given to applicants who volunteer to convene regional trials during the position appointment process, if they meet the minimum position requirements.
- Eligibility—Sunshine Coast School Sport has specific guidelines for appointing regional team officials. Applicants will be selected based on the level of accreditation and demonstrated competence. Please refer to the eligibility guidelines.
- Obtain Principal approval—Applicants must gain approval from their school principal to be released from normal duties if appointed to a regional sport team position. Teacher relief funding will be available to schools to fund a replacement teacher to cover appointed regional team officials duties during the times a regional team official is away at regional trials or state championships in accordance with Sunshine Coast Regional School Sport policy and Queensland School Sport policy. If applying for multiple positions, applicants must note any restrictions requested by their principal. e.g. if an applicant will only be released for one sport team despite applying for more than one sport team or position.
- Submit applications on time—Applications must be submitted by the application deadline to be eligible for round 1 appointments.
- Applications forwarded to selection panel—A designated regional selection panel will appoint regional team officials to available positions.
- Applicants notified—Applicants will be notified if they have been successful or unsuccessful in being appointed as a regional team official after the last general meeting of the Regional School Sport Board.
