Financial assistance

There are a number of funding assistance programs available to financially assist team members and their families to attend state or national championships. Some of these organisations provide funding for state and national championships while others only provide funding for national and international championships. Local Para Champions

​​The Local Para Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-24 participating in state, national or international championships for athletes with a disability.

If successful, applicants will receive $750 to $1000 towards the cost of attending their championships.

  • Base Grant: $750
  • Applicants travelling 800km - 1999km to their nominated championships: + $100
  • Applicants travelling internationally or greater than 2000km to their nominated championships: + $200
  • Applicants residing in a rural electorate: + $50

Local Sporting Champions

The local sporting champions program provides financial assistance for choaches, officials and competitors ages 12-18 years participating in state, national or international championships.

If successful, applicants will receive $500 to $750 towards the cost of attending their championships.

  • Base grant: $500​ 
  • Applicants travelling 800 kilometres to 1999 kilometres to their nominated championships: +$100
  • Applicants travelling internationally or greater than 2000 kilometres to their nominated championships: +$200
  • Applicants residing in a rural electorate: +$50

Queensland sport and recreation

Sport and recreation operate the Young Athlete Travel Subsidy which aims to foster the development of young athletes and support elite athlete pathways by providing financial assistance to help alleviate the costs associated with attending state, national and international championships. Officials (such as coaches, referees and scorers) attending eligible events can also apply for assistance if they meet the eligibility criteria. Sunshine Coast Regional Council

The Sunshine Coast Regional Council offer individual development grants to support residents who are performing, competing or presenting at national or international competitions and events. Moreton Bay Regional Council

The Moreton Bay Regional Council through their Individual Achievement Fund (Youth Achievement) provide support to young people who have been invited to represent their sport at a high profile national or international sporting event. The contribution is provided to offset travel and event related expenses. Applications for this funding must be submitted prior to attending an event.
