Introduction

2026 Sunshine Coast School Sport Regional Official positions have now been advertised.  In week 7 of term 3, we will conduct a review of the submitted applications to date and advertise by way of a reminder to get your applications in if you have not already done so. We will also compile a list of vacant team positions that we have not received any applications for. The final opportunity to apply via our online application process will close end of week 8 in term 3.  We will then review all applications and appoint regional officials in week 10 of term 3.  The application process is set out below.

Draft calendar

Please check the draft calendar for next year to ascertain your availability to carry out the required duties next year.  Draft dates for regional trials and state championships are listed.  SCR refers to regional trials.  QRSS refers to state championships.  These dates and venues are subject to change.

Positions available

Regional positions include the roles of convenor, coach, asst coach (softball only), manager, chief manager and trainer.  Applicants must abide by the obligations / responsibilities as outlined in the application form.  The complete list of available positions is listed. Within the application, applicants will be asked if they are willing to convene the regional trials.  Preference will be given to applicants who volunteer to convene regional trials if they are selected as a regional coach/manager/trainer and if the applicant meets the minimum requirements.

Eligibility guidelines for officials

Sunshine Coast School Sport has specific guidelines for appointing regional officials.  Applicants will be selected based on the level of accreditation and demonstrated competence.

Please refer to our Eligibility Guidelines (tab above).

Principal approval
Applicants must gain approval from their school principal to be released from normal duties if appointed to a regional sport position.  TRS will be provided to the school of the successful applicant to cover their absence, in accordance with Queensland Representative School Sport and Sunshine Coast School sport policy.

TRS cannot be paid to schools for non-teaching staff, teaching staff currently on leave, or not actively engaged in a school, or community/external staff supporting the QRSS program.

If applying for more than one position, applicants must let us know of any principal-imposed restrictions.  For example:can only be appointed to one team position despite applying for multiple positions.

Submission of application

Applications must be submitted online by the due date each year.  If no applications are received for certain positions, the sport office will call for additional applications for these re-advertised positions.

Selection panel

A designated regional selection panel will appoint the regional officials by reviewing all applications and applying our eligibility guidelines (tab above).

Notification of applicants

Early term 4, we will notify all applicants to let them know if they have been appointed to a regional team position or not.
